Trendy Solution for the Perfect Zoom Background: Bookcases & Built-Ins

In the era of remote work, your Zoom background says a lot about you.

It's not just a backdrop; it's a statement of your personal style, professionalism, and attention to detail.

With the right setup, you can make every virtual meeting an opportunity to impress.

Enter the world of bookcases and built-ins—a versatile and stylish solution to elevate your Zoom background.

In the next section are ten chic decorating ideas that promise to transform your office into a visually stunning space.

What are the benefits of bookcases?

Affordable Cost

Bookcases are less expensive than built-ins.

The cost of building built-ins may not fit your budget, even if you own your space.

Based on HomeAdvisor's data, an average carpenter will charge around $2,500 to install a custom bookshelf, at the time of publication.

With a few design tricks, you can turn any floating shelf or cheap bookcase into a magnificent addition to your home.

Create Interest

Besides organizing books of all shapes and sizes, bookshelves can be used

  • to display picture frames,

  • decorations, and

  • personal belongings.

Bookcases are more than just storage solutions; they are a canvas for personal expression.

They offer a unique blend of functionality and aesthetics, providing ample space for books, decorative items, and personal artifacts.

A well-styled bookcase can add depth, interest, and personality to your Zoom background, making it visually appealing for you and your viewers.

Why built-ins?

The following information comes from Dan Fries, a certified residential appraiser based in Cumming, Georgia: built-ins may be expected for more expensive homes that have other upgrades.

Benefits of built-ins include the facts that…

  • built-in furniture makes a room look longer and more spacious, and

  • it blends in well with the décor and architecture of the room.

  • An item that stands up against a wall may feel small and eat up space.

  • Well-designed built-ins can integrate seamlessly into the room.

Built-ins have a bespoke charm that can elevate any room.

They blend seamlessly with the architecture, maximizing space without sacrificing style.

For a Zoom background, built-ins offer a sleek and cohesive look that can be tailored to reflect your personal style or brand identity.

Plus, they're a smart investment, adding value to your home and your virtual office alike.

How much does it cost to upgrade my office with built-ins?

The cost of adding built-ins to your office varies widely based on factors like materials, design complexity, and labor.

On average, you might spend anywhere from a few hundred to several thousand dollars.

However, consider this an investment in your professional image and home value. The customization and efficiency built-ins offer can be well worth the price.

The good news is that adding a home office with an impressive Zoom background can add value to your home.

These are the types of large-scale projects within the "built-in" category that add value in a meaningful manner.

In HomeLight's Top Agent Insights Survey for Q2 2020, a home office costs a total of $12,119, but it adds $10,526 to resale value, which means you'll recover 87% of your costs.

Let’s look at my curation of ideas for your Zoom background in the upcoming sections.

General Rules for Styling Bookshelves

  1. Begin with a clean slate:

    • Remove any pieces of decor, artwork, or other objects from the bookcase before styling it.

    • Get rid of any dust or grime on the shelves as well.

  2. Choose a color palette:

    • Select 2-3 colors to act as a base for the room.

    • This will make it easier to create a cohesive look and can help to draw the eye when styling the bookcase.

  3. Select focal pieces:

    • Select one or two items that are visually interesting and will serve as a focal point on the bookcase.

    • This can be anything from a sculpture to a framed photograph.

  4. Introduce texture and play with height:

    • Add various textures and heights to your bookcase by adding baskets, boxes, and vases.

    • By introducing different heights and textures you can create a balanced and aesthetically pleasing look.

    • Varying the height of objects adds dynamism and keeps the eye moving.

  5. Incorporate books:

    • Integrate books into the design by displaying them in various ways.

    • This can be done by stacking books on their sides, organizing them by color (although you might get a low rating on X formerly known as Twitter), or mixing large and small books together.

  6. Add life:

    • Incorporating plants brings a touch of nature and vibrancy.

  7. Add personal touches:

    • Incorporate items that are meaningful to you and that tell a story.

    • This can be anything from small figurines to souvenirs from your travels.

  8. Balance the color scheme:

    • To ensure that the bookcase doesn’t look too busy, select items that fit into the color scheme.

    • This will add continuity to the design and create a balanced look.

  9. Step back:

    • Once the bookcase is styled, take a step back and see how the elements are working together.

    • Make any necessary adjustments to create a unified and aesthetically pleasing look.

Inspiration for Styling Bookshelves and Built-ins For Zoom

Let’s take a look at some specific examples of bookcase styling that could make a brilliant statement on your Zoom calls.

Idea #1: Monochrome

  • Use a neutral monochrome color scheme. By utilizing classic bookshelves with decor in a neutral color palette, your background adds depth and interest without overwhelming the viewer.

  • This type of monochrome background shown below also helps to portray you as an intellectual and suggests cultural literacy, making you appear more knowledgeable and professional.

  • Additionally, bookshelves create a space for creative expression as you can utilize various book titles and photo frames to reflect your interests and hobbies.

Overall, bookshelves decorated in a neutral monochrome color scheme are an excellent option to create a memorable Zoom background.

HOW TO GET THE MONOCHROME LOOK

Zoom backgrounds can be stylish and eye-catching with just a few minor changes to your bookcase and living room setup.

Following the monochrome color theme, and using neutral shades like white, beige, and ivory, you can create an incredibly cohesive look that screams sophistication.

Here's how you do it:

  1. CHOOSE A COLOR SCHEME

  • Using neutral shades will allow the decor pieces in your background to combine without clashing or creating a chaotic effect.

Shades of beige is a popular choice for creating a monochrome look on your bookcase.

  • Other popular choices in interior design are monochrome palette in shades of blacks, whites, or grays.

These colors are all in the same family, but they can each be used in to create an interesting variety of expressions.

For example, you can opt-in for classics for a timeless look, or choose a modern and airy feel.

Various shades of gray will create a sophisticated, yet inviting look.

2. INTEGRATE SIMPLISTIC FURNITURE SELECTIONS

  • Furniture pieces that have clean lines are perfect for achieving a polished look when styling your bookcase.

For example, investing in mid-century furniture is always a great option since its timeless designs strengthen the visual theme of minimalism within the space seamlessly.

  • Create an engaging atmosphere by sitting in a vintage chair, or have one in the corner, that expresses your lively and singular personality.

For a refined look, try a velvet armchair - it adds a dash of elegance without being overpowering.

A plant here and there also bring your space to life and can be used to complete the vista.

By selecting a few pieces and exercising a little imagination, you can craft an eye-catching environment that will make a lasting impression on those you meet in your Zoom calls.

3. ORGANIZE YOUR BOOKS TO A DEGREE AND CREATE DEPTH

  • Organizing books neatly on the shelves is essential to creating an organized look when styling your bookcase.

To maintain this aesthetic of minimalism, avoid overcrowding shelves with too much artwork or plants; instead opt for books arranged in neat piles with subtle texture through their cover fabric or designs.

  • To truly maximize the aesthetic value of your bookcase as a zoom background, pay attention to not only the organization of books, but also their color and texture.

Adding an additional layer of texture through decorative bookends which will hold the piles of books in place and provide a visual anchor.

Finally, take advantage of natural lighting to add depth to shelves by displaying books with lighter tones on the highest shelves and books with darker tones on the lower shelves.

With these simple tips and tricks, you can create an aesthetically pleasing bookcase that will be a beautiful backdrop for your zoom calls.

4. CHOOSE SOLID COLOR ACCENTS

  • Incorporate solid colored accents against contrasting shades of beige to add interest and bring out detail in the design of your space.

Choose small accents like bowls, frames or vases that have interesting textures for additional character on the shelving unit without overcrowding it visually with too many items at once.

  • Aim to create a balanced look with an assortment of items that play off each other—incorporating both large and small pieces.

Different sizes and shapes of accessories can help to break up the visuals and edited to maintain the minimal aesthetic.

Ornaments, sculptures and other collectibles can also be used to draw attention to the shelves.

By pairing small items with other larger pieces, you will be able to create a more visually appealing background for your Zoom meetings.

5. CONSIDER CONTRASTING TEXTURES

  • Adding contrasting textures helps to introduce an organic feel while simultaneously branching away from the feeling of limited options when using primarily neutral palette of whites, beige and ivories in styling your bookcase.

Using natural elements such as wood planks provide beautiful contrast of hard edges amidst abstract geometric shapes found typically found within the modern backgrounds of Zoom callers!

  • Adding textures will bring a multidimensional contrast to the look of the bookcase, so that it stands out among its surroundings.

This creates the perfect balance of modernity and organic elements to provide a stunning and individualistic aesthetic.

Whenever I am styling a shelf, there are a few items that I always gather. It’s good to start with a variety of each category so you have different sizes, shapes, and colors to choose from.

HOW TO GET THE INTEREST ITEM + BOOK + PLANT

Are you looking to create a Zoom background that stands out from the rest?

Do you want something cozy and inviting for your virtual meetings?

Then, creating a bookshelf-inspired background is the way to go.

Here's how to decorate your bookshelves with interesting items, plus books and plants – all beautifully arranged to create a stunning Zoom background:

1. Choose Your Books

  • Start by selecting some books that can be arranged on your shelves in an artful, visually appealing way.

If you own any antique or vintage books, these will add an element of surprise and interest to your display. Don’t forget to select a few recent reads too!

  • It’s important to consider the message you are trying to convey.

Start by thinking carefully about the people you will be presenting to, as well as the topics that will be discussed in the meeting.

What type of impression do you want to give off?

  • Once you have an idea of the overall message you are aiming to convey, you can narrow down the selection of books that fit the bill. Keep in mind different aspects such as the color of the spines, the size of the book and whether or not the titles are recognizable.

  • If the books are visible, also evaluate their content and how it might be interpreted.

Aim for a diverse range of books, including those that represent different genres and authors, in order to create an inclusive and well rounded environment.

  • Finally, think about arranging the books in a way that is visually pleasing and enhances the overall look and feel of the image.

Try varying the heights of the books and using smaller items such as figurines and potted plants to break up the monotony.

This will create a more interesting and inviting background that viewers are sure to appreciate.

2. Accessorize with Interesting Items

  • Now it’s time to decorate your shelves with some interesting items that will make your space extra special.

  • For example, you could use paper flowers, glass or ceramic vases, little trinkets and knick-knacks like photographs, sculptures or figurines.

You could also use plant holders in different shapes and sizes for maximum visual impact.

  • To show off your eccentric side, populate your bookcase with fun, unexpected items.

From quirky knick-knacks to meaningful souvenirs, decorate your bookshelf with things that make you smile and spark conversation when people join your Zoom call.

Ask family or friends to lend you interesting pieces to personalize your background.

Choose items that make a statement, spark interest, and give your audience an insight into your quirks.

3. Add Some Greenery

  • Nothing says ‘welcome’ like live greenery!

Place some plants alongside your bookshelves for an added boost of modishness and vibrant energy.

Succulents are perfect additions here because they require minimal maintenance but still provide a touch of natural beauty and elegance.

  • This will bring a pop of color to your background and add a fresh and lively touch to your space.

You can also add a few dark green or lush plants to the shelves of your bookcase for an earthy touch.

This will create a calming and inviting atmosphere for anyone who joins your Zoom call.

  • If you would like an extra special touch, try a hanging vine from the top of your bookcase for an extra splash of greenery.

Don't forget to place the plants or vines at different heights to add a dynamic look.

Just be sure not to overdo it, as too much greenery can be overwhelming.

4. Put Everything Together

  • Once you have all your components ready, it’s time to arrange them together on the shelves according to size and shape for an aesthetically pleasing layout.

  • Choose meaningful items that tell a story, like trinkets or souvenirs from your travels.

  • For a harmonious design, pick items that match the color scheme and create a balanced look.

  • Then take a step back, assess the design and make adjustments if needed to make sure the elements come together in a cohesive and visually attractive way.

Be sure to take enough time arranging everything so that the spaces between elements are balanced and visually pleasing; it’s the small details that matter when creating a beautiful display!

Bookshelves are a great way to show off your collection of books, but if you're looking for an easy way to add some personality to your Zoom calls, then why not decorate them with ginger jars? Ginger jars, which come in a variety of sizes and shapes, provide a unique touch to any home setting. Here are some tips on how you can use ginger jars as part of your Zoom background:

1. Choose Your Ginger Jars

When choosing the right ginger jars for your bookshelf displays, look at factors such as color, size and shape. Consider which colors will work best with the hues in your room and the tone or mood you want to create. Also consider how much space you have on each shelf so that you don’t overcrowd or overfill it.

In addition to considering the size, shape and color of the ginger jars, ask yourself the function of the pieces as well. Will you be using them for decoration only or for more than one purpose? Knowing the intended use will help you decide if one size, shape or style will be better than another. Also, look for ways that the displays can be switched out or rearranged for different occasions. A ginger jar display can be easily enhanced, altered or changed if you have the right pieces in hand.

2. Arrange Your Jars

Once you've chosen the right ginger jars for your display, it's time to arrange them on the shelves. Try placing them in groupings of three or more and experiment with different heights and angles until you get just the look you’re going for. Place taller jars in front and smaller ones towards the back so that all of them are visible from a distance when viewing from someone else's laptop or phone camera.

To really make your ginger jar display stand out, vary the colors and patterns, and add accents like books, plants, or other decorative items to really make it unique. When you have the right combination of shapes, colors, and textures, your ginger jar display will be more than just a few jars on a shelf—it’ll become a true work of art.

3. Add Accessories

Adding accessories such as plants, artwork or figurines can give some depth and interest to your display – plus they're great conversation starters during Zoom calls!. Create small vignettes by grouping items together on each shelf. For example, find a set of colorful vintage books and arrange them alongside framed prints or photos from trips – this will bring a special touch while personalizing the Zoom background even more!

Don't forget about lighting and shadows either – a few strategically placed lamps can make all the difference. Try to position your lamps in a way that won't be too distracting on camera. Remember, the goal is to highlight your shelves and create an interesting display. You can also add some accent lighting to the sides of the shelves to bring your vignettes and objects to life. Last but not least, take time to play with the various levels of light and shadow in the room; this will help you find just the right balance to achieve the perfect Zoom background.

4. Enjoy your Ginger Jar Display

Finally – enjoy using those beautiful yet simple decorations in your next Zoom call! Not only will they bring life into their environment but also ignite conversations among participants! Plus it’s always fun to share interesting stories behind whichever pieces were included in that particular display - so feel free to proudly mention it during that virtual meeting!

Aesthetics play a crucial role in any Zoom call and the virtual decorations are no exception - they can help to set a certain mood and make people feel more at ease. Not to mention that the silent act of embellishment is a great way to showcase one’s identity in a subtle yet potent manner. So why not take the opportunity to express your style in the comforts of your own space? Let your creative juices flow and your personal flair stand out!

Idea #4: Sophistication

Add an air of sophistication with thoughtfully chosen antiques and a refined color scheme. Keep in mind how the design of the pieces you choose will interact with the other items you have in the background. Finally, consider a calming color palette to complete the look and feel – light earthy tones and soft pastels will make the space inviting to viewers and give them the feeling you’re in a cozy and comfortable environment.

Are you looking for ways to spruce up your bookshelves and make your home look more sophisticated? Why not use antiques and a refined color palette as subtle additions to provide a pleasant visual experience during your Zoom meetings? Here’s a guide on how to create an interesting and unique aesthetic with the use of antiques and a refined color palette for your zoom background.

1. Choose an Antique Style

First, determine which style of antique will complement the colors of other objects the bookcase. Depending on your own personal taste, choose either darker or lighter furniture items that are in line with specific historic architectural periods such as Victorian, Regency, or Edwardian – all of which bring an elegant sense of charm with them that can’t be found in modern pieces.

Once you determine the style of antique you want, research the various materials available. Wooden pieces are typically much sturdier and longer lasting, but metal pieces may be easier to maintain. Glass items can offer a degree of timeless sophistication. However, glass is also more delicate than other materials and requires more care. Consider the practical needs of your bookcase and the aesthetic needs of the room and make your decision accordingly.

2. Select a Color Palette & Accent hues

Pick three to five colors based around one main color. This main color should be coordinated with some of the objects on the bookshelf- determining how they all unify aesthetically when together. When applying colors, keep in mind that less is more and add hints of accent hues that will offer splashes of energy as required.

Once colors are chosen, look at the book titles and covers and examine how they fit in with the overall theme. You may need to shift around books to better tie the colors together or look for covers or titles that fit the colors of the wall. To further create an interesting, diverse display, look for objects such as art, office supplies, and small trinkets that bring out the colors in the bookshelf. With the extra touches, you'll soon have a Zoom-worthy shelf!

3. Mix Patterned Textiles into Your Design

Choose patterned fabrics that further support and enhance your chosen colour scheme for the entire area- these fabrics can include cushions, throws, draperies etc scattered around surrounding furniture pieces like sofas and chairs near to the shelf for added textural interest. Additionally these elements can be used to erase any sense of traditionalism from the design if desired by introducing non-traditional prints into it like abstract inspired graphics or ornamental patterns while still maintaining a timeless vibe overall due to its antique centerpiece piece (the book shelf).

When selecting fabrics for the surrounding furniture, consider investing in those that contain a subtle hint of the shelf’s colour scheme. This will bring continuity and consistency to the space without taking away from the shelf’s unique character. Rich textures, such as velvet and corduroy, are key to creating a cozy atmosphere, while glossy and shimmering fabrics can add a touch of sophistication. Patterns can also be used to achieve various looks – bold patterns can create an eclectic and modern look, while softer patterns have a calming effect. Whichever pattern you choose, make sure that it adds a textural element to the space and reinforces the shelf’s overall design.

4. Add Unique Accessories

Finally, you can experiment by adding small yet eye catching details. Try out antiquities like candles holders , vases or even vintage globes like those seen painted in bright colours which will help give additional vibrancy without detracting attention away from its primary purpose (to act as background). One key factor here should also be considered: ensure everything has its place in order to maintain visual clarity within this space.

In addition to antiquities and vintage pieces, you could also consider art pieces, prints, and photographs to add a bit of personality to your background. When selecting what to display, remember to create a balance of elements. Too much of the same colour or style can be overwhelming, while a varied selection of items will help create an inviting and aesthetically pleasing space. You may also want to consider the size of the items you’re adding. Opt for items that have a smaller profile and make sure they don’t take up too much of the frame or steal the spotlight from your background. With a bit of creativity, you can make your next Zoom background one to remember.

Do you want to spruce up your Zoom video call background? A bookshelf display of your favorite books and objects can serve as an attractive, personalized way to style a background for video chatting. Creating an interesting bookshelf display can be an enjoyable and creative way to showcase your collection of novels, figurines, or other objects. Here are some tips to create a gorgeous bookshelf display with a focus on a collection:

1. Decide on the Focus

Before starting out, decide what the main focus of your display will be: Will it be solely about books? Will it feature assorted items in various shapes and sizes? Do you want it to tell a story or evoke certain emotions? Having an idea in mind before arranging will make the process go much smoother.

Answering these questions can help you establish the parameters of your project. Yet, be sure to leave some room for experimentation. Rearrange items and play with different combinations until you find the one that speaks to you. Creative expression should be at the center of your project, so don’t be afraid to take risks and aim for the unexpected. With the right balance between structure and spontaneity, you can craft a compelling display that will leave a lasting impact on the viewer.

2. Choose Your Collection Carefully

When curating the pieces for your shelves it’s important to pick items that complement each other – but that doesn’t always mean going down the uniform route. From family heirlooms to whimsical objet d'art, try mixing different textures and types of materials within the same color palette to give depth and interest to your display.

You can also express yourself through your collections by grouping objects by their theme. Whether it’s nostalgia, travel, or mid-century modern furniture, arranging items into collections based on a common theme gives you the freedom to express yourself and tell a story about your space. Try to create unexpected connections between pieces, and don’t be afraid to move things around to get the right composition. Collections are meant to capture the eye and evoke an emotional response, so make sure to pick items that resonate with you and your design style.

3. Create Visual Flow with Color-Coding & Grouping

Grouping similar items together is helpful in creating visual flow in your display. Use flexible material such as string or twine to tie different parts together in order to keep everything organized, like fairy tale pages all bound into one volume or photos pinned up displaying stages of time passing by. Alternatively, you could use color coding throughout the shelves so that even from far away one can quickly discern particular groups from one another.

For example, if you wanted to place books shelved by color, the green books could go on the left side, the red on the right, and the blues in the middle, like the ridges of a rainbow. The possibilities are endless. With a little creativity and imagination, you can create an eye-catching display that engages the eye.

4. Categorize & Arrange With Height & Balance in Mind

A successful shelf should contain elements that draw eyes back and forth through entire planes without overwhelming with visually overwhelming displays on every shelf - think heights and depths when organizing your space so both fully stacked as well as sparsely populated levels exist side by side without seeming lopsided or off-kilter. Also consider how horizontal lines might overlap - you want both vertical elements and Do you want to spruce up your Zoom video call background? A bookshelf display of your favorite books and objects can serve as an attractive, personalized way to style a background for video chatting.

Artwork, antiques, and other decorative items also help to break up the wall of books and add a touch of personalization to your display. Consider texture, too, when adding to your shelves. Books with interesting jackets or art objects with interesting textures can create a focal point in your display that catches the eye. To finish the display, add a few complementary objects to artfully tie the elements together and capture a sense of harmony.

5. Highlight Focal Points

Think about including smaller items that bring attention towards larger features or key elements - like incorporating a glass coche sitting on top a stack of books - allowing these focal points extra shine within their surroundings. Use meaningful accessories such as your favorite flowers in a unique vase.

By utilizing strategic styling, you can create an interesting visual impact to your zoom background. Framing your background with meaningful items, like a special painting or a photograph of your family, can add to the ambiance of your call. While these items may seem small, they can often draw the eye and become great conversation starters. Incorporating meaningful items like these will be sure to make your zoom background a work of art.

6. Add Finishing Touches & Enjoy!

Now comes the fun part: adding finishing touches! One last time look through everything carefully – Are certain extra pieces needed here? Are there any missing elements that could perfectly complete this puzzle? Finally, step back and bask in all your hard work!

Now you're able to show off your stylish bookcase during your Zoom calls without any fear of judgement. The best part is, you have a unique backdrop that no one else has! For this reason, having a library bookshelf mural in your home or office during Zoom calls can be incredibly helpful as it adds fun visuals along with thoughts about learning, culture, language and more! Additionally, if you’re teaching younger students or mentoring younger employees, showing them that learning can occur anywhere with motivation and drive can make virtual communications seem more natural – creating a comforting atmosphere all around.

The positive atmosphere created by library bookshelf wall murals can also help in more relaxed settings. For example, if you’re trying to collaborate on a project or just catch up with a friend, the mural can add a bit of levity and decorative conversations starter. For those who have to take frequent Zoom meetings or make a lot of video calls in general, the mural can provide a valuable escape from the monotony of the same walls. On top of that, the mural can be customized to the people’s specific tastes if they want to add a personal touch.

Overall, library bookshelves wall murals can offer a creative and fun addition to any space. Whether you want to use them in a professional setting or just to spruce up a living room, these wall murals are sure to add a creative and unique look to any wall or space.

Increases Curiosity About Reading

Having walls adorned with book images suddenly makes reading tangible – even when going virtually through a computer screen! Seeing shelves full of interesting titles can stimulate interest in readers while they’re conversing online instead of turning off due to boredom. Not only that but—since we live in such technologically advanced times—allowing children/students to connect physical elements like physical books/artwork with digital data like video communication only increases their curiosities about reading further – which is why libraries display subjects from science fiction novels to non-fiction history texts!

A library bookshelves wall mural for a zoom background might even encourage children to take extra time to peruse the shelves and pick out books for themselves. What’s more, it can help adults rediscover the joy of reading, by encouraging them to follow their intrigue and explore titles they might not have otherwise come across. Plus, it’s also a great reminder to reconnect with a favorite author or book series. Lastly, it serves as a source of inspiration and sparks creativity, aiding in the creation of new ideas. With a library bookshelves wall mural, you can transform the mundane of a Zoom call into a memorable experience that simultaneously delights and educates.

Increases Writing Aspirations & Inspiration

Visually seeing all different types of literature has been known to greatly increase young people's writing aspirations & inspiration! Let's imagine the type of empowered feeling someone may have when walking into room featuring thousands upon thousands of physical books. That same exact feeling could result from viewing all different types of stories displayed via wall murals – helping generate intriguing ideas related to our own storytelling ambitions!

It's easy to get stuck in a creative rut, viewing the beautiful books on a wall mural can help to unblock that and bring back the joy of writing. Not to mention that having a visual representation of books can bring back pleasant and familiar memories of spending time in a library, which can be incredibly calming in the midst of a busy day. All in all, a library bookshelves wall mural can be an effective and inspiring source of motivation for any storyteller.

Overall, integrating a library-style wall mural as a part of your zoom background can do wonders for both yourself and those watching in. Not only does having access to many different types of story titles aid educational pursuits but also boosts creative project development. Conversation starters are created from tangible inspiration points within our visuals that surround us while conversing online! Along with developing writing aspirations & increasing curiosity about reading aloud; having a library wall mural results in boosting overall engagement levels during virtual conversations - something every person wants regardless if they’re children or adult professionals alike.

My brother and I were able to fantasize far more extravagantly about our parents’ tastes and desires, their aspirations and their vices, by scanning their bookcases than by snooping in their closest. Their selves were on their shelves.

Idea #7: Element of Surprise for a Zoom Background

Make the back of the shelves stand out by using an unexpected color.

You can also be creative with the objects you choose to place in your background. Choose artwork that speaks to you and your interests. If you’re in the technology sector, feature a few computer parts or gadgets. Or if you’re a marketer, place a stack of high quality, branded promotional materials. This small change will make a powerful statement to your colleagues and help your virtual presence stand out from the rest. With a little bit of creativity and planning, you can transform your home office into an engaging and inspirational environment.

Are you feeling bored with the same backdrop during your Zoom meetings? Then consider jazzing up your home office with an unexpected paint color! Adding a unique yet eye-catching pop of color to your bookshelves can highlight an area of the room and make for a colorful background on your next virtual call. Here’s how to decorate bookshelves with a daring paint color that could double as an interesting Zoom background:

1. Choose An Accent Color That Reflects Your Personal Style

Think about the colors that you enjoy looking at. They should evoke enthusiasm and excitement. To prevent it from being overwhelming, opt for a hue within the same family, such as choosing between pink, coral, or salmon rather than all three at once. But if vivid hues are not quite your cup of tea, then choose one muted tone like sage green, light gray, or lavender for something more subtle.

Accent colors can be used to lend depth and texture to any visual design. Pick a color palette that goes with the overall look you are going for. Consider what types of images and design elements you’ll be using and how you want the color to fit into the whole. If there’s a specific color that’s associated with your brand or your target audience, make sure to include it in the palette. It’s also important to keep in mind the psychology behind colors: blues can be calming and greens can be soothing, so take that into consideration when choosing your colors. When in doubt, keep it simple by selecting a few main colors and a handful of accent colors to enhance the look.

2. Recycle What You Have

Before you go out and purchase expensive painting supplies, look around the house for items to reuse first - like old buckets, recycled containers or nearly used cans of paint that may have been left behind from a previous project.

By repurposing items within your home, you are able to create an individualized look that is unique to you and your design preferences. By taking the extra time to think outside the box and find creative solutions, you can create a memorable Zoom background that will make a lasting impact on those who join your virtual meetings. Don't be afraid to look for unexpected ways to make your bookcase stand out. You can use fabrics, found objects, lightweight objects, or any other knick knacks that speak to you to give your bookcase a special flare. Have fun and embrace your inner designer to create a one-of-a-kind Zoom background.

3. Prep The Bookshelves

Preparing is critical work before you start painting in order to generate better results — cleanup any dust on the bookshelf surfaces before painting and use painter’s tape to protect areas that need avoiding (like behind door knobs).

You'll want to use an appropriate primer for the material you are painting. Check out the recommendations by The Washington Post. Have enough brushes and rollers to allow for an even application, and be sure to use painter's tape to create clean edges if you need. It may be helpful to practice a few strokes on a piece of scrap wood before beginning your project. With a little patience and attention to detail, you'll be able to create a unique, satisfying outcome.

4. Start Painting

Now comes the fun part! Once everything is taped off and prepped it's time to start rolling on the new shade. Try using roller brushes instead of regular ones so that the paint covers more surface area quickly while minimizing brush strokes.

To ensure the best possible finish to your bookcase, use a high-quality paint designed for furniture. This type of paint will create a smooth, durable finish that won't show any drips. Keep in mind that if you plan on painting the shelves on a regular basis, investing in a paint sprayer makes the job even easier.

5. Final Touches

Let both coats dry thoroughly to avoid any potential smudging once finished with two light layers of paint – touch up any areas that need retouching or missed spots before removing painter’s tape boundaries completely.. And voila! Decorate to your heart’s content. Now share this spruced up space in your next Zoom meeting as an unexpected surprise backdrop!

Idea #8: French Style Bookshelves

Build-ins take on a new look with French antiques. French style bookshelves offer an impressive and regal feel to any workspace. For a luxe update, add a gilded wallpaper to the back of the shelves, or a French style mural to the sides. Consider incorporating painted stripes and stars to give an edgy, yet classy vibe. Adding a bookshelf to your home office can be both a practical and decorative addition that will leave a lasting impression.

Add texture. This is one of the most important things to remember, I think. Whether it’s baskets, wood items, or something else, make sure that everything is not smooth and shiny. Without texture, the whole thing can fall a little flat.

Do you want to make your Zoom background look like a tasteful French library? If so, it’s important that you pay attention to the details when you’re decorating your bookshelves. Even though it can feel daunting, decorating your shelves in a French style is easy once you know what elements to use. So let's get started!

1. Stick with Neutral Colors

A monochromatic palette is key when it comes to achieving a French style room. Natural colors such as light gray and beige are great options for creating an elegant backdrop. An off-white or light cream color can provide an added sense of sophistication to the room, while muted colors like soft blues and greens will add a subtle hint of color to the bookshelves. With these simple tips, it is easy to achieve a look that is timeless, classy, and truly French in style.

2. Place Artwork Strategically

Adding artwork to the shelving can help inject some personality into the room. Try choosing artwork that complements the color scheme here; this could be black and white prints as well as photos.

Remember to select complementary frames and matting as well. For example, if you have a lot of black-and-white prints, look for frames and matting in a matching black finish. You can also opt for antique frames to give the room age and a sense of history. Whichever style of frames you choose, select them carefully to ensure that the artwork ties in with the look of the room and helps create cohesion.

3. Alternate Varying Heights of Books

When stacking your book collection, alternate from tall books on one shelf to short books on the next shelf for visual interest. To give a greater effect of organized chaos, mix different sized books together on each shelf – this creates extra texture within individual stacks while giving off an effortlessly curated vibe throughout the bookcase display.

In addition to the varying heights of books, try featuring one or two special volumes on each section of the bookshelf. Position them to draw the eye upwards and to give the shelves a more sophisticated look. Choose from books that are oversized hardcovers to add a stylish and unique touch to your display. For example, oversized poetry books with pastel-colored spines or a leather-bound coffee table book.

4. Incorporate Little Touches of Greenery

Plants can bring natural beauty and life into any space - try adding potted plants around the shelves for that added touch of vibrancy! Choose hardy plants like succulents or cacti that don't need frequent watering and pruning if you have busy schedule.

Alternatively, if you have the time and energy, consider investing in larger topiaries or potted trees to add drama to your french style bookshelves. You can also add trellises for climbing plants to create your own private garden oasis. Make sure the plants you choose fit the space - both in terms of size and type. Planting the right combination of greenery can help create a cozy, inviting atmosphere that is perfect for relaxing after a long day.

5 Don’t Forget About Accessories

Accessories like figurines, trinkets, candles or sculptures are also great ways to add depth and dimension to your shelves setting - make sure not get too carried away though so there's still balance between all aspects!

One of the best ways to add a unique flair to your French style bookshelves is to use color. There are a variety of shades that complement the French look, such as creamy whites, navy blues, pastel pink and shades of grey that create a soft yet elegant atmosphere. You can also incorporate texture into the shelves with decor items like woven baskets, fabric-covered boxes, and dainty vases to tie in an added element of sophistication. To complete the look, try to incorporate a few small pieces of artwork and use framed pieces of artwork to act as wall anchors. Finally, when arranging these decorations remember “less is more” for elegant French styling goodness.

Once everything is in place, you will have a sophisticated French style bookshelf background for your Zoom calls that is sure to impress.

Idea #9: Zigzag

“Create a zig-zag pattern that helps the eye to move around….Use a rule of thirds when you think of quantity for each category. We are going to fill about a third of each shelf visually with each type of item.” - Kathy, Up To Date Interiors

Changing up the décor of a room is a great way to give any space a new look and feel. Creating an interesting aesthetic on book shelves can help improve the look and feel of both home and office spaces. In the steps below, we’ll explore how to decorate bookshelves by creating a zig-zag pattern that helps the eye to move around while followed with the rule of thirds when you think of quantity for each category.

1. Gather Your Items

Start by gathering all the items you will be using to decorate your bookshelf.

Whether it’s books, trinkets, figurines or art pieces, make sure you simplify them into different categories – based on size or color. Lay them out on the floor or a surface that is easy to see and photograph. As you do this, make sure you pay attention to the theme or mood you want to create. Do you want a more homey vibe? Or something more sophisticated? Do you want to focus on a color palette? Or utilize a variety of colors? This will help you create a bookshelf background that is unique to you and your style. After you have the items assembled, you can start the process of arrangement and decoration.

2. Arrange books first

Once you've chosen your titles, consider how you can best arrange them for maximum impact. Try to create patterns or lines with the books and lean on design principles like the rule of thirds, explained next, to make sure the composition looks good. Place the books at an angle and experiment with different heights and widths. Don’t be afraid to be creative and to mix and match color, cover design, and font size. You never know what unique and visually stimulating arrangement you might come up with!

3 . Utilize the rule of thirds

Once you have arranged your larger items together, fill up 1/3rd with other accessory items such as flowers, picture frames or decorations like small dishes or jars that can bring in just enough variety without taking up too much visual space and attention. The rule of thirds is a creative and effective way to give your bookshelves a modern and pleasing aesthetic. Start by visualizing the area into thirds and fill each third with a unique and interesting item. For example, the right third can be filled with books, the middle third with trinkets and other accessories, and the left third with frames layered over one another. The rule of thirds helps to create an interesting and dynamic look for your bookshelves without being too busy. Experiment with different items; you never know what combination will look the best until you try it!

4. Create Zig-zag patterns

Adding interesting patterns such as zig-zags to your zoom background shelf decor can create an aesthetically pleasing and visually organized look for your space.

Arrange your bookshelves in a zig-zag pattern for an eye-catching look. Start with a 1/3 width row of books from the left of the shelf to the middle, in order of descending height. For the shelf below, start from the opposite side and continue the pattern. Make sure you stagger the heights for the best look. Refer to the photo above.

Having a mix of different heights, angles and shades can also add depth and dimension to the overall look of the shelves.

Additionally, you can use blank spaces between objects to further create interest.

By following these simple tips, you can easily achieve a balanced yet dynamic shelf arrangement as part of your zoom background décor!

Idea #10: Stoneware

Food blog influencers can showcase their stoneware collection in combination with fresh fruit as a way to attract attention.

“I styled my armoire for a shoot I did at home for Victoria Magazine. Notice that the pieces tie together with a common black and white theme, but the textures go from rough {burlap} to shiny {ironstone} to metal and leather.” - Lidy of French Garden House

The bookshelf, like the book, has become an integral part of civilization as we know it, its presence in a home practically defining what it means to be civilized, educated, and refined.
